What is the secret to sucess?

Is there a secret trick?

So….. I’ll tell you honestly

Is there a secret to success…. No, there isn’t any little insider secret, unknown hack or magic formula that will instantly give you a successful business.

All those ads, groups and posts that you have seen….

  • “Pay just £99 to grow your business to 6 figure salary”
  • “Follow these 6 steps and build the business you dream of”
  • “Learn how I made a 7 figure business  ”

Now, I am not saying that these statements are fabricated or that the person promoting their course or download didn’t make it work for them but you really have to stop and think about this logically…..

We’ve all seen the offers but I urge you to stop and think about it.

If £99 a month returns a six-figure salary, then you’d need a minimum of 85 clients and no overheads to make that a reality – could you really  source, service, support and invoice 85 as a one man band with no help or support .

It is because no one programme, trick or course can create a successful business for you…..the secret to success is YOU.

Now obviously, there are lots of things you can do that will help you to build a sustainable and profitable business and I will happily share those with you today….FOR FREE

  1. Know your numbers……  We have all heard the phrase, Turnover is Vanity, Profit is Sanity, Cash is King but do you really know your numbers?   The six-figure promise I mentioned earlier can be very misleading. Yes, they could have made £100,000 in turnover last year but how much of that profit?  If after paying all their expenses they are left with £2,000 in profit that is not a model you want to chase. Its vital to ensure your margins and overheads and review your businesses finances regularly. It’s also a good idea to make sure that you are putting money aside so you can pay your tax liabilities.
  2. Clear Vision and Goals – Get clear on your vision and what you want to achieve with your business, then set goals and build a strategy on how you will reach them.  We have all had to wing it from time to time and thinking on your feet can be a great asset as a business owner. However, if you have no structure in your approach then as your business grows, and you begin to struggle to fit everything in or if you are hit with an inevitable curveball (covid) then things can start to unravel very quickly. To run a successful business, you must have a vision and plan that includes goals and achievable milestones.
  3. Be realistic – make sure your goals are realistic and make sure your plan reflects this break it down into manageable chunks. There are only so many hours in the day and you will not be able to do everything all at once. It is quite common for business owners to become so overwhelmed with everything they have to do that they don’t end up taking action to do anything..  So get clear on your goals and set yourself realistic time frames so that you can achieve them.
  4. Systems and Processes – the key to efficient, sustainable business is systems and processes, creating a business that works with or without you and one with a solid culture and drive – systems and processes are the way to achieve this.
If you want to grow your business and take on a team you will need systems and processes in place to ensure an effective and efficient way of working. Efficient processes will show who does what, when, where and how. This approach enables individuals to see why this task each is important in the business. It improves accuracy and helps to provide structure and responsibility to teamwork.
More importantly this will allow you to move away from the day to managing of the business, allowing you more time to work on growing your business knowing that it is being managed in a way that works without you having to look over everything.
  5. Knowing your purpose – this is vital when trying to build and grow your business. Making sure that you work inline with your purpose and are regularly reviewing your business is very important to ensure you’re moving forward and enjoying what you do.  If you are only ever driven by money, you are not looking to solve a problem, you are not looking at a customer centric model.  You need to look at how your approach will add value to the end user and then be driven by that achievement. It’s not that being driven by money or a lifestyle is bad but if it is your only ambition you are likely to lack the creativity needed to overcome the obstacles you will face as a business owner. I read a piece in the Evening Standard that put it in perspective……
“Academic research conducted over the past 40 years has shown that financial incentives work best when people have very narrow tasks.
Ask them to fold more T-shirts per hour or make more scripted cold calls and the promise of extra money improves performance.
Ask them to solve a complex puzzle, however, and financial incentives do more harm than good. They impede creative problem-solving.
What motivates creative thinking are “intrinsic motivators” rather than externally applied carrots and sticks.”……
So, if you are looking to succeed in your business you will need more than just money as your driving force
