Time management is often touted as a critical skill for success. Yet, even the most seasoned business owners can find themselves grappling with the elusive concept of time. As I reflect on my journey, I am reminded of the ever-present challenge of balancing a packed schedule while ensuring productivity and efficiency.

One of the most poignant lessons I’ve learned is that I always need a little extra time than I think I do. Despite meticulous planning and scheduling, unexpected delays and unforeseen circumstances can throw even the most well-laid plans off course. It’s a humbling realisation, but one that underscores the importance of flexibility and adaptability in the face of shifting priorities.

A recurring challenge that I’ve encountered is the tendency to become deeply engrossed in client meetings, to the point where I lose track of time and end up running behind schedule. It’s a testament to the passion and dedication I bring to my work, but it also highlights the need for greater mindfulness and awareness of time management.

However, amidst the hustle and bustle of busy days, there have been moments of immense satisfaction and accomplishment. Recently, I’ve had the privilege of hosting three surgery sessions, each providing invaluable insights and solutions to pressing business challenges. Additionally, I’ve conducted training sessions, empowering others with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in their respective fields. Networking events have also played a significant role in my recent endeavors, offering opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals and forge meaningful relationships.

Tips for better time keeping

In the quest for effective time management, leveraging technology can be a game-changer. One strategy that has proven invaluable for me is diligently maintaining a comprehensive Google Calendar. By inputting all events, meetings, and commitments into my calendar, I ensure that no task or appointment slips through the cracks. Setting up timely reminders and notifications serves as a gentle nudge to stay on track and transition smoothly between engagements. Whether it’s a fifteen-minute warning before a client meeting or a prompt to wrap up networking discussions, these reminders keep me focused and proactive.  I make it a habit to review my calendar at the start of each day with my morning coffee, allowing me to mentally prepare for the day ahead and anticipate any potential scheduling conflicts. By harnessing the power of digital tools like Google Calendar, I empower myself to stay organised, efficient, and in control of my time.

As I navigate the complexities of time management in my journey, I am reminded of the importance of prioritising tasks, setting boundaries, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
